Venue: Paris
Vinalies Internationales, the only French competition affiliated with the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competitions (VINOFED), have now attained such a level of renown that they have crossed the borders of Europe.
Indeed, since its inception in 1993, this competition has grown steadily and has become an international event in which French wines participate on a par with other wines of the world. At the last event in 2005, the contest attracted more than 2620 samples from 36 producing countries, and these were tasted by 137 international experts, mainly wine oenologists from 32 countries.
More than one wine in three is extensively commented in the Guide "1000 Wines of the World" published by Hachette and the best are rewarded with "Vinalies d'Or" or "Vinalies d'argent", a quality mark recognised by buyers from around the world.
